Need Web Board or something???

I'm not sure where to post this so please let me know if there is a better
group. I currently have a problem where 12 different companies are
collaborating on a community project. The problem seems to be the
distribution of information and requests for the type of work that needs to
be completed. Since there are so many companies and people involved I need
some place for everyone to share idea's and work that has already been
completed. What should I be looking for that is FREE or relatively cheap.
This is a community project so it's a volunteer thing not a money maker.

I've googled for web boards but have way to many hits to know where to

The problem I have is that all of my users may not have MS Office on their
PC's, they may also be behind funny firewalls. Since I don't have a computer
setup as a server I would also need to do that in order to use SharePoint.
Thanks for the information but I'll have to keep looking unless there is a
site where "not For Profit" companies can use SharePoint for a reasonable
price.

Since I'm using DSL do I need to setup a Domain through my ISP to use my HP
Pro as a Server?

On Pro install IIS and you'll have an FTP server. They can use it like a local hard drive.

I'm going to try and set this up on a Windows 200 Server, does anyone see
any problems with this?
