Will this external Hard drive work for me?

What happens if you connect a FireWire 800 external harddrive to a computer with only a FireWire 400 input? Will the drive connect to the slower port? Do you need an adapter? I know that it would bottleneck at FireWire 400 speeds, but I just want to know if it would even work.

It will not work. You would need an adapter and the adapters are (to my knowledge at least) non-existent.

BTW, what HDD uses 800 already??
