I just wanted to know if anybody knew anything about Kingston Hyper X. I am employed at a large electronics retailer, and we just recieved 512 Hyper X DDR500. I cannot find a board on newegg that says it specifically supports DDR500. Is DDR500 backwards compatible in machines that support only DDR400? and also, does anybody know why kingston can claim hyper x is the "mack daddy" RAM for gamers when the sticks we have are CL3?

CL3 is insanely fast for DDR500. That's because the faster the module operates, the harder it is to maintain latencies with stability.

DDR500 runs at DDR400 speed fine. It's basically the same stuff, just tested to pass at a higher speed. All boards that can be overclocked to 250MHz FSB should support DDR500 at full speed. Of course overclocking to that speed can be difficult, but the stuff runs fine at lower speeds too.
