DMA mode problem

I have just upgraded to Asus A7N8X-X mobo and AMD 2600+ CPU, however my 1 yo. Maxtor Diamond Max ATA-133 HDD only runs at DMA mode "0". Before it was running on mode 6. The windows XP hardware compatability checker also says that there is an issue with the IDE controller.

How can this be fixed?

I had to re-install (fix) Win XP after the ugrade for some reason, and should I also re-install SP1?

of course.
SP1 has lots of bug fixes and stuff.
Also an idea to download all the security patches too.

AND install the chipset drivers for your motherboard.
