Hi,
I have the above processor/power amp combination connected to Kef Q75
speakers. My current CD player is a rather old Marantz CD 63, and I'm
looking to upgrade. My wife has a thing for Cyrus, so the current favourite
is a Cyrus CD8, although we're waiting for the revised player due out in the
next month or so before we make any decision - also there is a hi-fi show in
October (Manchester, UK) which will give us the opportunity to listen to
much more that we could hear in one day at our local dealer.
Any suggestions as to what other CD players we should be auditioning hat go
well with Rotel kit - budget is around £1000-1500.

Listen to the Arcam DV-79 for both CD and DVD-A...and you'll get DVD-V as an
extra.

Thanks for the reply. I've considered auditioning some of the high end DVD
players, but I'll be paying for hardware (and processing) I don't need - I
already have a DVD player - and I feel this will lead to compromises in
sound reproduction in other areas.

With this piece, it doesn't. That's the point.

What is wrong with your current CD player? Or DVD player used for CD,
for that matter?
It is always nice to buy new gear, but sometimes it could be good to
reflect why.

Have you looked at the matching Rotel CD player, RCD-1072?

Well, I remain to be convinced. I've had a look at the Arcam website and it
makes a big play of HDMI and improved picture quality, although it does
mention audiophile quality sound, it seems to relate this to DVD-A and
multi-channel music, neither of which interest me.
However, I'll add it to the list for audition, and see how it sounds myself.
