ddr400 as ddr333?!

my mobo is an asus k8v deluxe...

ive just invested in another stick of corsair xms pc 3200 ddr400 memory....256mb to go with the other stick i have...both are the same but the mobo shows them running at ddr333? why would this be...i forced them onto 400mhz but the screen went garbled so i had to go back to automatic settings...

would this be because they werent bought at the same time and so arent matched?
