Hi all, recently got a p4 3.0c with the IC7 max 3 and have been using 2 x 512 pc2100 ram. Its been stable and ive had no errors. So today i got some pc3700 ram 2 x 512.

my pc is running at default (not changed bios) and i put the new ram in, went to windows xp and got several errors.

page fault in non paged area
irql not less or equal to
windows has become unstable and must shut down.

all these were BSOD.

i put my old memory back in and everything is stable again.
what could this be? do i have to change something in the bios?

Sorry im a complete newbie with bios/tweaking or editing timings or whatever.

Could someone please explain where to go in bios and what to select/change in simple steps, id be very grateful.

Thanks a lot guys, and keep up this good forum

What brand/model of PC3700?

You might need to raise the RAM voltage (vDIMM) simply to get it to run at the default BIOS settings (PC3200 speed).

if you are running an early revision board with a vdimm higher than 2.8v you will almost always encounter instability...its a mobo problem nothing you can do about it.
