Program to identify memory speed

I am a newbie who wants to build a new computer with P4P800 motherboard, P4 2.6 Ghz CPU and 512 mb memory. I want to use dual channel memory. My local dealer says that he has fast no-name PC3200 memory that he can sell for a lower price than the brand name modules.

Is there any good program that would allow me to find out if it is PC 3200 or not?

As well, is there any program that identifies the latency speed of these modules?

I do not want to overclock. Stability is my main priority.

Well, as such there is no program that i know of that gives you the speed of the RAM. But what you can do instead is...

If your dealer lets you to have a look at the memory module he says is DDR400/PC3200, then note down the code (numbers) on the memory chips on the module. THen u can post that code here and i can help you to determine what speed the memory chip is rated!

Or u cud do a google search with the code too!!

The codes to look for look something like these...
The name denotes the memory make and the following code is the key to find out the info u need.

Infineon - HYB25D256800BT-7
SAMSUNG - K4H560838D-TCB3
MOSEL - V58C2256804SAT6

THis is worth reading. It is a thread i had started sometime back with similar queries!
