I replaced the hard drive on an old Dimension 2400 with a new Western Digital how can I put the os on the new hard drive if I don't see the optical drive in the boot order or in bios? Do I still need a driver if I replace the optical or add a burner. I am currently using the original motherboard.

If you don't see the optical drive listed in the BIOS, you either unplugged it when installing the new drive, or need to set it's master/slave jumpter properly if the drives were moved around. That's the most likely issues, aside from the drive just going bad on you.
