I've heard good things about Papst fans - they are individually balanced and use sleeve bearings for quieter operation. Also they have higher flow so they can be run at lower rpms (quieter still).

Where do you guys go to buy them? Online?

Do sleeve bearings have shorter life than ball bearings?

Thanks

I use Panaflows, Panaflow has a special sleave material that allows them to run for 10 years without substantial increases in noise. Papst fans are also highly rated, so I suspect similar quality.
