Hello,
I have an acer travelmate 2200 laptop with a 2.66 Celeron CPU
I just upgraded the CPU to a P4 mobile 3.06/1M/533
The problem is that although the CPU is recognized as it is, is working at 1.8 Ghz (14x133) and that isn't changing under load.
Anyone has any idea how to change that?
In the bios there is no setting for the CPU speed or the multiplier.
A few things to try, download CPUID (more especially Crystal CPUID) and tell me what It says. More likely, its just EIST or it may be that the mobile P4 runs notoriously hot and that your laptop cannot handle the extra heat. Did you apply thermal paste on the CPU aftering installing it, when I upgraded to a 2.0Ghz Core 2 Duo(Mobile) I remember how many times it was throtling when I would benchmark or play games until I applied some artic silver. Let me know how things go.
