Hi guys,

First time posting but longtime reader of the page. I've been hanging on the line about getting a gaming laptop for a long time. I basically want to play wow and 60fps with if not all the max settings then the majority of them. I just priced out this dell inspiron which was about $400 cheaper than the base Dell M1710. What do you think and will this allow me to play WoW with no trouble at all.

Specs:
Inspiron 1720, Intel Core 2 Duo T7700, 2.4GHz, 800Mhz, 4M L2 Cache
2GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 Dimm for Inspiron 1720
256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 8600
160G 5400RPM SATA hard drive 5400 RPM
17" LCD 1920x1200

Thanks for your time reading.

That thing will kick WOW's a**. My only recommendation is get a 7200rpm hard drive. You will appreciate the increase in speed. If you want me to be honest, that laptop is more than you need to play WOW.

Oops thanks for giving me the heads up I didn't realize that it was still at 5400, changing it now to 7200 on the phone.

That should be way more than you need for WoW. I'm running it on a Toshiba Qosmio F25
1.86GHz pentium M
Geforce Go 6600 64MB
upgraded 2GB DDR2 400
upgraded travelstar 7200rpm 100GB hard disk.

I run WoW at 1280x800 with textures high, terrain and env distance around medium or so and full screen glow turned off at a steady 60fps. I have a decent bit of addons running (38MB or so memory usage), only slowdown is in orgrimmar or large cities (and right now I'm only running on 1GB of ram, one stick had to be sent back to Corsair for warranty replacement) Judging by my performance and the specs of my laptop vs. that Dell max settings shouldn't even make it break a sweat.

That CPUs a bit OTT if you ask me. The jump from the 2.2 to the 2.4 just ain't worth it, in my opinion.
