Hey, first, my name is Anna and I want to say Thank you for your interest.

I am looking for a good working notebook. I would spend like ~$1,400.

This is what I ended up with on Dell. :?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
PROCESSOR:
- I can't figure out which one:
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7200 (2.00GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 667MHz FSB) and Intel® Core™ DUO T2350 (1.86GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB). :?:

LCD PANEL:
- 15.4 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen WXGA+ Display with TrueLife™

MEMORY:
- 2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHZ, 2 DIMM

HARD DRIVE:
- Size: 120GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)

VIDEO CARD:
- 256MB ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1400 HyperMemory™

BATTERY:
- 6-cell Primary Battery and 9-cell additional Lithium Ion Battery
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. My first question is about the brand if you have any suggestions and comments.
2. What would you suggest me to add or change?

THANKS AGAIN, :!:
Anna :)

For business purposes that would be fine. Dell is a fine choice. Reviews about them will literally change with each person you talk to. Gateway and HP are also good choices. Gateway is starting to get much better reviews and their tech support is getting better as well.

You may also want to consider either a higher capacity battery or an additional one. The 6-cells won't give you the greatest roaming time.

I'm on my third notebook in seven years now, and all three have been Dells.

Buy a Dell if you're looking for a stable, reliable machine. They work pretty well for that (don't know the desktops, though, but love the servers [/ramble]).

The Core 2 Duo T7200 is a much better chip than the Core Duo T2350. The Core 2 is a newer chip that runs cooler and is about 10-15% faster at the same clock speed than the Core Duo, and is also 64-bit.

I assume that this computer is the Inspiron 1505? If you want a little more sturdy and reliable machine, the Latitude D830 (through the Small Business page) is another 15.4" notebook. It's based on the updated Santa Rosa 800 FSB Core 2 Duos and the better 965GM chipset. The D830 can also be had for $1400 or less since it starts at a little under $1000. The business notebooks also have less crap installed on them from the getgo, which can be nice if you actually use the installed OS and don't want to uninstall all of the trial-ware and such.
