What versions of avast should I go with?

hey so my friend told me that avast is the best antivirus to get so I downloaded it. anyways what I wanted to know is should I go with just the basic free avast or is it worth the $20 to go with avast pro. also is avast the best antivirus?

I am using avast free latest version and it has very strong protection.

I've been using the free version for years. I also complement it with the free version of Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware; you must manually update and scan your PC though.
