You cant get a gaming laptop for 1200$. At least not one that I would call a gaming laptop.

You might be able to get a 15.4inch with a T7300, 8600GT, 2GB ram, 7200RPM 100GB HDD. However, that video card wont run GPU intensive games.

Check out the Compal IFL90 (Not yet released, should be shipping in the next few weeks), also known as Sager NP2090.

Check out XoticPC, they got good prices on the barebone IFL90 I think.

Also, another cheap laptop, better CPU, but more heat generation (Desktop platform)

Asus C90s.

I agree $1200 isn't going to get much of a gaming laptop. Best bet is to find something last generation, end of stock type sales, with aT7200 or T7400 on the Napa platform, and then a GFGO7900series graphics board.

Old stock or second hand will be the only way for it to be a 'competative' laptop at that price.
