Dell v. Gateway

I have been given the task of finding the best deal for the money in buying a laptop computer. There are only two specifications. First, I have to compare a Dell to a Gateway (please include model numbers). 2nd The Price is firm at $1000 to $1100. What is the best value for the money?

Not enough information. The best laptop for video editing is not the best laptop for gaming. What's it for?

I don't know much about gateway, but I know that Dell has some really decent mobile workstations (not gaming). Also if you go with Dell, don't buy XPS notebooks. They are OK, but not for business use (unless it would be for apps like office and browsing the net)
