Core 2 Duo 1.5 Ghz
2 GB RAM DDR 2
nVIDIA 8600M GT 256MB
15" screen 1280 x 800 resolution

2 games: Counterstrike Source and Crysis. Could I run Counterstrike on MAXIMUM settings? For Crysis, would I be better of doing med-high with DX9, or low-med with DX10? Does low DX10 look better than high DX9?

well, my pc i upgraded a year or two back had these specs and could run on entry level settings for source;

p4@3.06ghz
1024mb ram
80gb hdd
ati 9700pro 128mb
800x600

what your specs are punching out should be able to handle high quite easily, that game is now dated compared to upcoming games where as the running on crysis i am not sure about as that is built upon the new dx10 which i dont know too much about...

It will handle CS:S with no problem what so ever. Crysis is a different story. It probably won't be able to push high framerates in DX10 with higher settings. That is mostly a function of your graphics card, but your CPU will limit you a bit as well.
