Is 2 times 256mb better than 1 of 512mb. It is more expensive so it must be better, but can someone explain to me why it's better and whether or not it's wise to buy two sets of 256 regarding possible extensions/expansions (excuse me, don't know which word to use there) in the future

It's the beat that will not be denied

It depends on what chipset you're using, schmuck.

My mobo is P4P800 deluxe and has a pentium 3.0ghz on it. So the chipset is 865pe (?) and it does future dual channnel. What is your advice; i think 512mb is enough in the near future. Should i buy one module of 512 or 2 modules of 256.

What are the benefits of 2 times 256 above 1 module of 512. Hope you can help me out with this.

You'll get improved performance using a pair of PC3200 modules. Test show my similar board provides 4800MB/s memory bandwidth at stock settings, that's far more than single channel can provide. So 2 256MB PC3200 modules would be a great choice.

Of course if you had the money, 2 512MB PC3200 modules would be a better choice. And if you'd like a small overclock, PC3500 would be better, and PC3700 better still.
