Hi all

I am running windows XP with sp2 installed with a NVidia geforce 440 AGP8x.
Now the trouble I am having is that the hardware profile for my PC is
showing 2 monitors installed and the video card had options for both. Now I
only have one monitor installed and I have tried deleting one from the list,
un-installing it from the hardware profile, but after a reboot there are 2
again.
they are listed as default monitor and plug and play monitor.
The plug and play one is the one that the card is using as monitor 1 so I
tried the uninstall of the default be it came back.

Does anyone have any ideas as how to get my system back to just having one
monitor installed?

Other than tweaking your anality, is something not working right because
of it?

Remove both, let windows redetect.
Still have 2?

If you have onboard Video AND an add in video card, it will show a second
monitor available.
If you disable the onboard video, it should go away.

Try disabling the "unwanted" monitor

A number of Geforce cards do this and you can just ignore it. It's just the
way they work, don't worry about it.
My 440 does the same, and it does it in Win98 as well as XP.

it's normal, don't worry about it. your card has a pair of outputs,
analog and digital, hence two listings.

as stated, you could "disable" the second one, but it won't buy you
anything.

get second monitor and hook it up, two screens are NICE!!

No.

My 440 only has analog output and it shows 2 monitors.
It doesn't have digital. It is just the way that NVidia driver works.
