While using winXP today a little yellow triangle appeared with a message informing me a file was corrupt and to run CHKDSK. Unfortunatly I did not make a note of the file. I set the utility to run next time I started windows and rebooted the machine. It booted up with a menu screen offering choices; Normal, Last Known Config to Work, Safe mode etc. I selected Normal, windows began to boot, got as far as the the black screen with the windows logo on it and rebooted. I tried again, the same. I tried every option, the same. I decided to boot using the CD and use the recovery consol. I have a Seagate S-ATA drive installed and checked for the latest driver just incase. Well this didn't work either and I got the blue screen of death and the following information;

*** STOP: 0x00000024 (0X001902F8,0XF89B0B70,0XF89B0870,0XF81538E9)

*** ntfs.sys - Address F8153E9 base at F8144000, Datestamp 3b7dc5d0

I also received the same message when I tried to install windows on another partition.

Is it worth me installing another drive whether it be IDE or SATA to try and recover my files or how can gain access to any of the partitions. Is there any software I can use that will let me load the SATA driver without windows so I can run CHKDSK or gain access? I'm at a real loss here, its the second drive to have failed on me in the past 3 months.

Can anyone please help......

Many thanks... Mataus

Try reinstalling windows over the corrupt version or install windows on another hard drive
