Greetings, all.
This game was mentioned on this newsgroup back in November 2003, but for
anyone who wasn't around then, I think it's worth a repeat announcement.
Note that I have nothing to do with this project; I just thought that
others might find it of interest.

EUO, A Multiplayer Online Adventure!
EUO is a multiplayer, persistant-world RPG inspired by Ultima 4 & 5.
In a nutshell:
* old-school Ultima, but multiplayer!
* dungeon bashing
* PvP
* rare/magic item collecting/hoarding
* quest completion
* crafting & miscellaneous skills
* player housing and pets
* it is (and always will be) free to play!
A Brief History of EUO
EUO started in 1998 (then called Balrog) with the intention of it being a
multiplayer rogue-like. That idea was soon abandoned in favour of EUO
becoming a multiplayer Ultima-like, when I discovered Josh Steele's Ultima
4 VGA tile set.
Four years later (in which time work on EUO was only undertaken
occasionally), in or around June 2002, I got the dudes on SA Forums to
alpha test EUO. This was the first public multiplayer trial, and it was
buggy as hell. A couple of months after that began, work on EUO was
abandoned, since the SA interest had died. Then work began again in
March/April 2003, when, 9 months after I submitted the game, EUO was
linked to from Ultima: Reconstruction, and work hasn't ceased since.
The Future of EUO
As long as there's community interest, development on EUO will continue.
Fortunately, the buggy old alpha days are long gone, and right now the
game is totally playable, if not fun.
EUO is mostly a learning exercise for me. While it is theoretically near
complete, work can continue indefinitely, just as games like EQ and UO are
patched every couple of weeks.
