Flashing/blinking screen

Hello,
When I first boot up my desktop computer or let is set for any length of time the monitor loads up but the screen keep flashing/blinking kinda like light in it. Usually after 2 minutes or so it stope so I can continue. Any idea what is going on with it?

Either graphics card or more likely monitor failing....try another monitor to test it...

What make/model is it? Also, does it get brighter and dimmer or does the picture actually go black? if it goes black, it may be dying. It may just be the power supply for the monitor going bad.

I have an HP monitor that does this (dimmer/brighter) if the brightness is set below 80%. It only lasts like 30 seconds then is fine.
