Hekp with Rega Planet cdp

The player will start a cd then at some unknown point or time, the
display will go blank, the sound will stop but, the power light remains
on. The player keeps spinning the cd as if it were still playing.
Is this a known issue with this player? Any ideas on what would cause
this?
