Can anyone offer either a suitable replacement heatsink and fan setup or a mod to quiet my Thermaltake Xaser Volcano 11 cooling setup? I thought I could take the noise but it has gotten to the point where it's all I notice. My machine runs at about 49 degrees Celcius when under normal load and I'm comfortable at that temp but I would like it to be quieter and/or cooler. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Vantec Aeroflow keeps my system at 36c under load running an AMD XP 2700+ Tbred, you can get one from Here For $23.99 + S&H, I used to run a Swiftech MCX462, jet waiting for takeoff cooler, never again!!!, the Aeroflow is about 1/3 the noise level and worth every penny.
i got Volcano 7+... Keeps me at 41c... i have it on the lowest setting... can't even hear the computer running... but if on HIGH keeps it at around 39C sounds like a F16 is next to my ear... on low, its fine
hmmm....aeroflow.....Maybe I got a different one...
The Aeroflow I got have a TMD fan with a copper centered Heatsink
And that one was loud!! compare it to my good old volcano 7+
with the 'low' fan speed setting of course.

I had the Swiffy too. Geesh, what a racket. I put a cheap slower RPM fan on it and you couldn't hear it. It only jumped about 4 degrees too.
Okay, brain. You don't like me, and I don't like you, but let's get through this thing and then I can continue killing you with beer. -- Homer Simpson.
