I'm using my HP Notebook, which is relatively new. I don't know what year it was purchased, but it has a Pentium 4, 512mb RAM, and an ATI Radeon 9200 Mobility.
Just recently, I've been seeing some artifacts on screen, as well as shaking, and the colors went wrong. Black was blue, and Red was purple for example.
Is my GPU overheating, or is my LCD going bad? I've put my hand over the undersides of my laptop, and it wasn't very warm (it hadn't been running long), and nothing seems to be blocking vents.
I've rebooted, and strangely its gotten better. It started out all wrong, but has gradually gotten to near normal.
Yeah sound like something is progressively going, so don't be surprised if one day it goes wonky and doesn't come back.
Could be a small part like a voltage regulator warming up a bit but able to last much longer, or might be something worse like memory starting to fail. Or could just be a loose wire/part/connector.
Even though I sound gloom & doom, no need to worry until it finally lets go.
