I am going to get the Logitech Z5300 speaker system today. What I need to know is, does the M-Audio Revolution have the hardware decoding that the Z5300 lacks or not? I know the 680 speakers has the decoder in the speakers but its to expensive for me atm. If the M-Audio Revolution doesn't have the decoder on the card I'll have to find another soundcard for these speakers.

I just purchased these same speakers. I'm still not sure weather to keep using onboard (soundstorm) or upgrade to a better sound card.

What did you pay for your speakers?

If I glanced at a spilt box of tooth picks on the floor, could I tell you how many are in the pile. Not a chance, But then again I don't have to buy my underware at Kmart.

Dude, you can't get much better than a soundstorm. The dolby digital encoding is just awesome.

I'm 99% sure the m-audio card does ac3 decoding. Heck my old live cards do.
