My desktop just broke and I am considering buying a new laptop to replace it, but there are a few things that I am unsure of.

Since Intel just release the core 2 quad, and AMD is developing the Phenom CPU, I am wondering if it is worthed waiting for those to be released for laptop.

Also, I don't know which brand to pick and how long of a warranty should I get? Typically, the standard warranty is one year, I don't know if I should extend it or not.

Thanks for all ur suggestions

At first the laptops with quad core will be outrageously expensive so unless you want to grossly overpay I wouldn't even consider them now. While opinions differ for laptops I never get extended warranties, which are generally really expensive and as often as not if it's going to go south, will most likely be in the first year. To suggest anything need you're budget and how you plan on using it.
