I8042 Mouse Ring Buffer overflowed

Does anyone know how to reconfigure the ring buffer size for my mouse data?
It seems that it has overflowed and needs to be recofigured. The event
viewer states that it is configurable via the PS/2 mouse properties in the
device manager but my help files indicate that it is configurable via the
registry. I tried going to the hardware mouse properties where I found I
could increase the buffer size but it didn't seem to help fix my problem ie"
The screen freezes along with the sounds if any. Any help would be very
helpful. Thanks if you know what I'm referring to. Thierry
