HP ($1,099) appears to be cheaper than the Sager which was customized to a more or less similar spec.
HP has some comparison to Sager #1 & #2 as far as ram & drive specs go..

are there other alternate laptops with similar amd turion & nvidia specs?
also, are the 2 models I've mentioned good laptops?
On the sager customs website page, it mentions that Vista doesn't support SLI mode. what's that?
Sager laptops are good but I suggest you buy from a different site. I purchased mine from that company and wasn't thrilled with the ordering process and wait time.
SLI is the ability to use dual graphics cards in your system. The entire idea of the 20'' monster was for SLI. Right now Vista and NVidia have terrible drivers for SLI and it doesn't work properly.
The reason the Sager is more expensive is because the HP has a terrible screen res, slow hard drives and doesn't have a dedicated card.
My only question is, why do you want an AMD CPU? Not to sound like an Intel fanboy, but the Core2Duos for laptops are better than the Turion X2's. That isn't to say that the X2's are bad, the Core2's are just better.
well, I thought AMD turion x2 cpus were cheaper than the equivalent Intel duo cores. If I'm wrong on that, I'll reconsider going intel duo cores,.
I've been wanting to go thru the AMD route for sometime after owning 2 intel based mobos (Pentium 3 1ghz & Pentium 2 350mhz) for my desktop machines that I've built. I've been considering getting a laptop to carry around and to have as an alternate desktop machine in case I have evacuate to another city from an approaching hurricane making landfall as happend to new orleans in 2005..
If you go to the HP website, it can be customized instead of the base machine found at the Best Buy link. I made the customization, it went up to $2,400.
I think HP selections are poor. It doesn't carry the kind of drives (fast) & dram (fast, but it doesn't mention what kind) I'm looking for. oh well.
