NO, MCP doesn't have APU, MCP-T does. And a lot of places advertise wrong. nVidia has a motherboard list, you can also check the manufacturer's website.

Did you already buy a board?

What you are looking for is called the "SoundStorm APU" found on Nforce 2 MBs using the MCP-T southbridge.

Its prized for its high quality and the fact that it has the lowest CPU utilization of any sound card descrete or integrated (more FPS in games).

There is not MCP-T south bridge for the Norce 3, in fact the NF3 dosen't even have a south bridge, its a one chip slolution.

The integrated audio for NF3 MBs is nothing to get excited about, go with a descrete card if high quality/performace is important.

Maybe the nForce3 Pro 250 will change that?

But nVidia's site doesn't call some MCP-T boards Soundstorm certified, even though the software works on all of them.

Why don't you just pick a board then? I suggest the Abit NF7-S, which does have the MCP-T.

nForce3 isn't fully mature yet, nVidia should be releasing a new, more functional version later.

If you're not in a hurry, new chipsets will be out this spring.

The entire sound card is not contained in the southbridge, just the processor. The rest of the circuity is implemented by the motherboard by the manufacturer.

It could be that they are not certified because their implementation is not up to nVida's quality standards.

Yes, but a non-certified sound system could use better quality parts than a certified board, and simply be an unverified configuration.
