Hello. Currently I am thinking of getting the Dell Axim X5 Advanced PDA. However, I am getting it for 90% use in school. Since school is coming to a close in about 6 weeks, I am unsure whether to wait until August or early September to get a PDA. I mean, I really want a PDA now, but don't NEED it yet...get what I am saying?

Also, I am stuck between both getting a Palm or a PPC yet alone which product of each category. I am using my PDA for taking notes, maybe some games, word proccessing (like, full papers), organization, etc. Just curious of the PPC or the Palm is for me.

If anyone here can help me or provide me with a good PDA new's website, that would be appreciated. Thanks

If you just want a pda that can take notes and do the ocasional game I reccomend the Cassiopeia BE-300 the above website has an alternate operating environment for it to make it very much like a pocket pc. Hell it is a pocket pc with expod, it runs pocket pc games and has pocket pc dlls installed and everything. The Dell axim is a reasonablely well priced pda but I wouldn't want to use it, it's just so bulky and I think it's kinda goofy looking but thats just my opinion. I just found a brand new Ipaq 3835 on ebay for 150 dollars and I bought a 256mb SD card for $50 so I'm excited. IMO the pocket pc beats the pants off of the palm, there are so many more apps for it and a lot more support and customization. www.pdabuzz.com is a good site you may want to check out too if you are unsure of what platform to go with. The Ipaq PPCs can run linux too! The word is ppc 2003 will be released in june or july and it will include support for arm ppcs as well as x-scale. Some people say it will run on PPCs with mips and sh3 processors as well. The Arm processor is currently at 200mhz though depending on the ppc you can overclock that. The x-scale is at 400mhz. Think of the x-scales as a p4 1.4ghz vs the arm as a 1ghz p3. One sounds faster but no software is optimized for the x-scale yet and the arm beats it in almost all benchmarks. There is no perfect pda for everyone it is all up to you. Just be sure to do some research before buying it, you may get stuck with something that you aren't happy with.

Treat your body like a $600 car. God didn't intend it to last so use it. Run it into the ground!
