My computer mic makes noise in the background?

Hi,
I have a slight problem with my computer's mic (and headset audio). When i plug them into the mic and headset ports, the background has some static noise, and the mic gives of what sounds like a helicopter (you cant hear this unless your on the other end). My idea is that it might me the driver behind it, though when i open the front it appears to be glued into place, preventing me from taking it and and re-plugging it.

any idea of what i should do?
