hey, recently i decided it was time to upgrade my pc,, and then i thought maybe i could just buy a nice laptop, and after searching around i relised it wasn't the best idea, as for what i would want it to do would cost me far more then a desktop would and now im still wanting a laptop so im thinking, is there a very very cheap route i can go about this, for example,
if all i need is maybe microsoft word, excel, maybe powerpoint, the ability to play music, and surf the net, watch movies on it, i wouldnt need it for any gaming, or anything resourcefull, 40-60 gb would be enough (not that im aposed to more)
.. can i find a laptop like this cheap, i dont care about core 2 duo's or high ram, all i need is the bare minimum, can anyone maybe give me a link to somewheres i can find something like this

Probably your best bet is to check the Sunday Ads for Bestbuy and Circuitcity and go with an AMD processor. I'd keep with HP, Toshiba, or Gateway and stay away from E Machine or Acer. One of my grandkids won an Acer Ferrari and had to send it back 3 times. Again, this might be the exception but once burned
thanks for the advice, im going to check some local stores
At least from what I've seen, it would be tough to go much less than $500 for a machine that would likely lasts more than a year or so. Good luck in you're search
Everyone has a different need and one thing to look out for with bare-minimum is quality.
Now there isn't much you can do about it, but what I would suggest is to go with an extended warranty if possible.
Either get it from a DELL (with coupons you can find at http://www.DealCatcher.com), or BestBuy like G said.
I normally wouldn't advocate the extended warranty, but in this case, I think the few dollars extra you spend will be more than likely well spent money as any low cost notebooks I have seen have what I could call "reliability" issues.
