Windows 7 call of duty world at war crash

Hello,
Bought Call of Duty World at War on steam a few days ago and have been having a lot of trouble trying to play. The game crashes at start up. I have tried a few fixes like starting up in compatability mode and changing the sound to 44100 and 48k but they dont work. Occasionally when I play around enough it will work but next time I try to play it is back to crashing.

Depends on the processor and memory.
If a single core processor is overloaded it will freeze or shut down.
If you have security installed, the security can shut it down too. (antivirus, firewall, etc,,,)

List the hardware.
