I have just switched from an in-line router to a Wirless one.
Everything is working fine only that every few seconds a Balloon window
keeps popping up at the bottom of the screen that says
"Local Area Connection 2, A Network Cable is Unplugged"

Everything that should be plugged in is. The main PC is working and gets on
the Internet OK. The same applies to the Laptop which is being used as
Wireless.

If everything is working OK, why do I keep getting this annoying Balloon
Pop-Up?

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of it?

And you removed or disabled the old NIC card? This message says your
computer has a NIC card that's unplugged. Disable, remove or mark the NIC
device as "Not used in this configuration" in Device Manager.

That might be the problem, but also, maybe not.
The main desktop PC has a NIC and does not have a wireless card.
Therfore the main PC is hard wired to the Ext. modem and then to the router.
The W/L router is really just a way of being able to move the Laptop around
the house.
Does this mean that I have to get rid of the Nic and replace it with a
wireless in
the main desktop PC?

Hi,

That message is popping up because your computer is now using the wifi adapter and the wired NIC
card is not being used. Its nothing to worry about. You can disable the NIC if you are not using it
at all. To disable the NIC, open up device manager by typing 'devmgmt.msc' at Start/Run. Under
network adapters, double click on the entry which corresponds to your NIC and choose "do not use
this device" under device usage. Ok your way out.
