Need expert recommendation

  I need help in deciding what laptop I should purchase for my college bound daughter. It will be used for writing and recording music making her own voice recording on cds, video editing/dvd, learning how to play musical instruments, webcam, gaming, school. It must be portable and a top performer with speed. What should I purchase? What kind of operating system? This laptop should last about 5 years and we need a super duper battery. She will be using battery most of the time. Is there anywhere in Honolulu we can purchase a good laptop?
