Dear friends
Rrecently I purchased a head unit ( DVD player, GPS, TV etc.) for my Toyota RAV4 2009. The head unit recognizes the MP4 formats, means i can see the the title of the movies in the list on display but it dose not play all, now i have two questions:
1- If my head unit dose not support MP4 format (which it dose) why it can not play all and it plays only few ? (it is the same for all ports like CD, USB and SD Card)
2- Which is the best&common format for movie files to be played on head units without any problem?
I would appreciate if some one answers to my questions.
Thank you in dvance.
Zagross.

If you want movies to be played on DVD players universally, they should be in regular DVD format which is in VOB files http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VOB probably in mpeg 2 or 1 format.

There are many options that can be set when encoding movies, resolution, frames per second, bit rate, and so on, not all of those will be read by every player, especially in a car unit. Read the manual for and see what are the exact file types it can handle. If it's not in the paper manual, check online.
