I have two Dell PCs. One is a Dimension XPS-T700r with 512 MB RAM, Powerleap 1.4GHz Celeron, two CD/RW drives (Cendyne 522452AX and Phillips 8432), WinXP SP1, and the Dell SoundBlaster Live Value CT4780 card. My other PC is a Dell XPS-T350 with the Intel P3/700 in it I took out of the XPS-T700r, 172 MB RAM, the standard Dell/Liteon CD-ROM drive, Mandrake Linux 9.2, and no sound card. I recently purchased a SB Live Digital 5.1 card, model SB0220 that I want to put in the XPS-T700r. Now my question.

According to another forum (AnandTech), I do not need to use any audio cables between the CD drives and the SBLive card when I enable digital audio within WinXP SP1. As the SB0220 does NOT have a separate CD in connector as the CT4780 does, will I need to run a S/PDIF connector between one of the CD/RW drives or will I only need to rely on the IDE cable?

Note: both cards have these connectors: TAD, S/PDIF, AUX. On the XPS-T700r I have the Cendyne connected through the CD connector and the Phillips through the Aux connector.

I know enuff to be dangerous.
