Hiya, I don't really know where to post it but here's my shot at it:
I installed a dvd burner a while ago, and could'nt read/burn, and just in time my reader got crazy too. So I coulnd't read from any of em, when my buddy said to me that I should try format > reinstall and then it would work. Well, so I did, and it didn't work. So I'm thinking of the master/slave cable got lose and caused the problem to occure from the first time. Now, I'm not to handy with the master/slave cables of any kind, any guide or reply to help me out ? Thanks in advance.
Buy a new IDE cable, install it exactly like the previous one. You can get one online for about $1 or a rounded one for about $3. Then do a Google search "installing IDE cable."
