First off i got a gateway Mx6436 and its been Acting up latly i can use it for weeks / Months and it work great but sometimes it will just stop working at all will not show any sighn of power at all and then im like ok well thats wiered


then it ill just let it set later own and it work Fine when i try to power up so i was thinking it was somewhere in the power switch i even taken the cover off and just hit the censor over the Motherboard and it still not work it use to do that and i would let it set upside down for about an hour and then flip it over and it power up fine and work great .


iv been googling and found others having same problem but no Repairs so i was wondering if any of you knew if it was fixable or what is it one of them things where i got to get a new motherboard somewhere for it?

its all in the mobo or is there a cheap way of fixing it ??=/

well if any can help thanks a lot this really wants me to just stick with Desktops and Forget Notebooks lol

Its really hard to tell without having the laptop here with me. It could be a lot of things actually. Did you check for a cracked power jack? Sometimes the solder point will crack and needs replaced / repaired.

Are you running it on battery or AC power when it shuts off?

Also, I recommend you run SpeedFan and make sure nothing is overheating. That will cause the laptop to just shut down also.

Other than that, it takes a lot more information to diagnose your problem.

The problem you are having is to do with the Power Jack or DC Socket.
It happens quite a lot in your Model. If you live in the UK then i can fix it for you cheaply and superior workmanship. You can check out diagnostics and help at: www.powerjackrepair.com
