After reading the review of the HD3510 from Modix, i went of and bought it. And i was impressed! However it bothered me that i couldn't play an actual DVD-disc, so i started messin' around with the box. When i attached a normal DVD-drive it actually worked as such. And the ejectbutton actually ejects the dvd!

Then i tried connecting both a Harddrive and a DVD-drive and it works perfectly. and i could switch between the 2 without a problem from the "file-explorer". So now i have a dvd-player with a built in harddrive. that is slightly bigger than a normal dvd-rom drive.

Furthermore i have a dvd/mp3-player for the car, that is easy to move. And of course it still works as a USB harddrive :D

in my opinion that box is worth every $ :p

I'm considering this little beasty myself and have a question you can probably check for me...

NB: I would've preferred a NAS solution as the house is wired and wireless and I intend to locate this peripheral in our lounge some distance from the USB2 source material (I welcome any pointers towards any such product).

However my main concerns were with the manual specifying MP3 (and other audio formats) compatibility of only 64-192 kbps. The vast majority of my MP3s are 32-320 VBR rather than constant bitrates - many songs average over the 192 limit - can the 3510 keep up without dropping and skipping?

Can you or anyone else alleviate my concerns?
