Ever since the advent of the combo drive the DVD-ROM has not been given much attention by technology sites such as

this. It seems the DVD-ROM has fallen to the wayside.

With lack of up to date reviews and information on DVD-ROMS it has been heard to properly research and choose one

for a dual optical drive setup. I already own a Plextor 708A 8X DVD-/+R.

I am looking for a drive to compliment the Plextor in a dual drive setup.

I rip alot of DVD/CD Audio and Video. So i would like good DAE speeds and good DVD Ripping speeds.
Also it would be great to have it read as many formats as possible and have some ability for error correction and

reading copy protected discs.

I love slot loading drives so i have been heavily considering the Pioneer DVD-120S.

I have read about the Asus DVD-E616P1, and read good thins about Aopen and Lite-On Drives but some of the models

i have read about (AOpen 1648/LKY & Lite-On LTD165H) have been replaced with newere ones...

Any input, or direction you all can point me in would be greatly appreciated!
