And to make matters easier, there are now installers making it easy to
install and play the old games under XP. :)

Replay? I just now finally bought the 3rd one to complete my series,
and have yet to start any of them.

And funny you should mention this as my brother and I were just
tonight discussing XP and Sierra install's hatred of one another. We
started out discussing plumbing but somehow it always gets back to
games...

You didn't know about them already? I thought you were subscribed to
those dirty little .adventure newsgroups?

Well, I hardly think Sierra hated XP since the last game came out 2 years
before XP was released. It's more like they are all really DOS games with
only the barest nod towards Windows even existing. One of the reasons
they went out of business, I think, is the way they tried to do Windows
their own way instead of adhering to the standards. Of course, this
doesn't explain Valve.

Well, I did say Sierra's *install* -- don't know how Sierra itself
would've felt about it. I can't get any of their stuff to even
install - just dumps me back to the desktop and whimps out. Ah well,
that's what second computers are for.

Creating the whole Steam debacle instead of just going with
straight-forward retail boxed games.

One supports the alternate methods of publishing. The exact
implementation... well, especially at first, there were quite a few
problems that they really should have made more of an effort to avoid.
