UK Owned, registered and hosted web mail services?

Hi Folks,
I'm looking for any recommendations for a good UK based web mail service. At the moment I make use of a couple of Yahoo and Google web mail accounts. What I want is something with a similar interface but which is owned, registered and operated by a UK registered company and with which I can be sure my personal information would fall under the jurisdiction of UK law only. Let me be clear on this, I do nothing illegal via e-mail but I have a strong political ideals and beliefs. This is more of an idealistic move and my own small way of telling corporations that I'm not their bitch.

Failing this I'd be interested in registering my own domain and having some form of hosting that provides me with a web mail service. I've really not got much money so any such solution would have to be low cost. I don't need huge volumes of storage, half a gig or so would be ample for what I need. I don't need a personal web site or anything else, just a simple web service that somebody manages for me so I could have audiovoodoo@<my-domain>.<whatever> and maybe a couple of aliases for other business use. If it could support PGP encryption even better.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

owning a domain will generally give you free access to pop3 email, the question of ownership becomes important then, as there are a lot resellers out there. fasthosts I think might UK.

I was thinking 1and1, but they definately operate in the US, and therefore probably US Owned, 123reg similarly, you want a registration company that is uk based I think.

Yes, I'm looking into UK based hosting now. It would seem that I can get what I want from a domain reg and then a mail package on top. This would give me web mail on a private domain for about £24 a year. The big issue now is finding a 100% UK owned and hosted provider, Hosting UK look like they might fit the bill but I need to do a bit more digging before I stump up any cash. The other thing I need to do is think of a suitable name for the domain. It needs to be work safe yet something my friends would relate to, unfortunately audiovoodoo seems to be more popular than I thought it would be :(
