Mouse pointer turns to a line

Hello,
i have a 7770 ghz. with a i5-2300 on a z68 gen3 pro 3 asrock board. my mouse has been doing weird things , it turns into a line with hash marks on it--- any idea how to fix. a google search showed that many people have the same problem i do.

I have had the same issue but with a totally different setup (3770k, z77 Sabertooth, crossfire XFX 7950s, Win7 Ult 64). Maybe it has to do with the AMD drivers.
