I see that nice creative labs Gigaworks review, but NOT once in the review did they mention the primary competitors, the Klipsch ultras. Then there was that nice DDTS-100 review, but yet, where did they talk about the Klipsch DD5.1? Hmmm, in fact, does this website even know about Klipsch.

Hey they make really cool computer speakres, but if you llamas (I'm referring to tomshardware writers ) bothered to look at ANY computer store, you would have noticed them surly because pretty much everyone sells them and many websites gives review expect you lazy people.

So I’m guessing you only do reviews when you get money for it. I know creativelabs is a little marketing machine and I don’t doubt they asked this site to do all those reviews.

PS: get a speaker forum, I mean you have a [INSERT 4 LETTER WORD] forum for CD-ROM’s and then a sperate board for DVD’s, and then a board for cases. Give me a break, speakers coast from 100 to 500 dollars and you don’t think anyone needs to discuss them before they drop ½ a grand of a set? You guys need to widen your multimedia horizon, this is just pathetic.

Wow, what a really intelligent and objective post.

Not.

You really ought to be careful making ill-founded comments like the ones above, because it could get you in an awful lot of trouble, especially the implication that the company offering the product pays Tom's to do so. That's libel.

Scan through the boards and you'll see just how many questions there are about speakers. Not. Very. Many. That's how many. There's no need for a board about them, so it'd be a complete waste of time.

Your usertitle indicates Stranger. Please keep it that way.

Hey arsehole, STFU. You should be permanently banned for your stupidity.

For anyone else stupid enough to listen to this troll: Computer sites don't have the money to buy hardware. They request parts for review, and the manufacturer chooses whether or not to send them.

So you love Klipsch? Guess what? They didn't think YOU were worth the cost of sending in speakers for review. They don't want YOUR business. The fact is companies only send out review products to sites they believe will help them win customers. And they didn't want your business bad enough to send anything to this site. So it's either their fault (because you really DID paln to buy their product) or your fault (because you really weren't going to buy them in the first place).

Your logic fails. It's like saying "America didn't nominate Colon Powel for the last election because they're racist" after Colon Powel anounced he wouldn't accept any nominations!

Not to mention that THG reviews probably over 100 grand in hardware per year, and if they had to BUY that hardware the site would go broke.

I think it is not good idea to just review products send by hardware manufacturers. A few years ago, a PC magazine find out that some Video card manufacturer send them cards with higher quality components and run at much higher speed than cards with the same model number those manufacturers sold on the market.

Reply to upec

It's a sad fact of the industry that companies sometimes send better-than-retail parts, but it's like that everywhere, even Car and Driver gets their test cars on loan from the manufacturer. There's just not the money in journalism that would allow publishers to buy everything they test.

Sad but true, it's a problem that can't be helped.

if you want to say asshole? just go ahead and say it, I don't like posting on G ranted forums anyway.

You want to ban me for giving you some tuff advice? We all don’t have the best of the best, and when your PC can’t get any better, you start improving other components like your speakers.
So this forum does not tolerate criticism? When you learn to do that, you will have that much better of a website. Not saying this site is bad, I don’t read it myself I don’t like the reviews but many others do. In any case, I’m surprised no one really cares about multimedia, that pretty much includes, soundcards, DVD players, DVD's, computer monitors, DVD software, EAX, A3D, Surround sound. Now I know that’s not true, therefore your statements about people no giving a crap about speakers invalid. I realize high end MM is a rather new market, but it will grow, and I’m just suggested you start a forum, I know it will be more successful then you think. There is a whole group of people who don’t even post here.

Not to mention the fail rate of some of these products, you know they test the crap before they send it here, how just imagine if they went out and grabbed the stuff off the shelf at fry's, Hell just by probability 10% of the crap would fail, think about how that would change the reviews.

Look, I’m not here to piss anyone off, but I think being the fact that this site reviews speakers, there auto to be a speaker forum.

If you're not here to piss anyone off, you might try authoring a post that doesnt include baseless accusations of favoritism and name calling within the first 2 paragraphs.

I would "just say it" except that the root word is obliterated by automatic sensoring

This site allows plenty of criticism when it's not baseless. If you were to criticise them for using free parts, everyone would agree it's less than ideal, but nobody would have a solution. If you were to criticise them for using slower timings on an AMD platform than an Intel platform, it would be their own fault for not explaining why they did so. If you found a technical flaw, you could criticise, and they might actually correct it. But if you criticise them because another company refused to send a product for review, you come off as stupid.

Look at the latest power supply roundup. See any Enermax power supplies? No, Enermax didn't send any. Looking at the brands they did review, you see the Fortron 300W and 350W, but not the 400W. Why? Fortron didn't send it.

If you like your company enough to feel slighted when a product isn't reviewed, perhaps YOU should donate it, since the company doesn't feel you were worth wasting their review sample on.

SORRY, I did not know this site was too cheap to buy hardware like A LOT of other review sits with FAR LESS popularity. Jesus Christ, I’m a not a regular here, it’s far too biased in the multimedia department.

all I’m saying is they should expand their horizon. It would greatly benefit the few reviews of speakers they have done to compare them to the leading brands.
its like comparing Intel to nothing and saying.....

"well AMD did not send up the chip so we are gonna just compare the p4 to nothing and say its good because its all we got"

see how stupid that is.

Reply to LMS007

Wow, you really are hard headed aren't you? How many years did you take 10'th grade remedial math?

You call Tom's biased for not buying speakers. If they bought your favorite brand but forced everyone else to donate parts, THAT would be bias. When will you get it through your thick skull that it was YOUR FAVORED COMPANY that excercised bias by NOT sending their product to this site? Obviously they've sent them to other sites, or you wouldn't see reviews!

You claim that "A LOT of other review sits" buy their hardware. Well, at least you said they were less popular. Probably because they only review the few parts they can afford. That's because ALL the major sites rely on venders to supply whatever they want to be included in a review, at no cost!

So quit complaining about Tom's lack of BIAS. Quit telling us they should give YOUR company the leg up by buying their stuff. Your company was to biased to send the parts, you whining does nothing but defeat you.

You're right, I should quit complaining, I don’t even care about the insignificant review they did not receive, its the fact that there ain’t even a speaker forum rofl.

Thick skull? 10th grade math? That’s the best you could do
I can do better: Hell, I’m not even in 10th grade yet, that’s a fucking complement you dumb fuck. So kiss my ass you fucking faggot.

Trollin? Oh hell ya, this board deserves all the trolls in world just to irritate you little bitches. Cuz if I had it my way, I’d slap you around a bit before sticking my opinion right up your fat lazy computer geek ass. Tell me, how many Big gulps are sitting next your keyboard.

You’re just bunch of ass kissing bitchs on a G-rated forum for fucking losers who get hard on’s about how much L1 cache a cpu dye has.

LOL, let me tell you something that might enlighten you:

10th grade remedial math is for people too slow to do any sort of algebra, so it's basically 6th grade math for 10th graders. My calling you a stupid young adult was no compliment, it would be better to be an average adolescent.

Oh well fuck me, I never learned math the way your old ass did. You see while you pushing slider rulers, I was playing mario3 on my Ti89 for the last 2 hours of my calc 3 finial while I waited for my friend to finish. You see, I take advantage of consumer reports and I read and buy whats best for me because its best overall. Like my Ti89. Now, I would not have used that correlation had it not been for the fact your brought up the whole math thing in what was almost the most original [/sarcasm] attempt to flame me. OMFG please stop calling me a 6th grader, oh mommy please fucking oh dear god!

/me bashes keyboard

"that mother fucker called me a as stupid as a 6th grader?"

/me lifts up monitor and throws it out the window

lol

Now if I would have read Tom's pos review’s I would only know 1/2 the story and I would have bought some worthless scientific calculator and end up failing out of college like you. Now, lets back up a bit.

You see, what good is a review if there is nothing to compare it to?

And furthermore, what good is a review with no discussion forum afterwards?

ps: ROB, now you know only reason i am a fag is because i fucked your mom.
