I have a portable hp deskjet 450 and it does not want to print the whole page. it will stop half way, sometime 2/3 of the way, sometimes 1/4 of the way through a print job and the orange paper feed light starts flashing. there is no papper jam and I have tried it with only 1 sheet of paper. What gives???

Try cleaning the paper path thoroughly perhaps using canned air -- the sensors in printers are sometimes optical and if there's a build up of dust they can act up. Mechanical sensors are also subject to wear.
