My family just bought a new laptop but we have encountered some problems. Using a touchpad, or regular mouse, the cursor is choppy every 3-5 secs. Its like it runs fine, then ever few seconds it thinks hard (so the mouse gets choppy) then it goes back to normal, and it does this over and over. I switched the mouse to a trackball, worked great! But then windows said the USB device (trackball) malfunctioned, so I went into device manager using the touchpad, uninstalled and reinstalled the usb root the mouse was in (bad move?). It worked (in the same port), but then a while later its malfunctioning again. How do I get the trackball to work??? Sorry for the long post.

Anxiously awaiting prescott....is it here yet?

Splendid
If its brand new I would return it to the store and get a new one or have it serviced if need be. Sounds like there may be a short somewhere in the usb lines.
