I pretty much have it narrowed down to these two systems

I have the intel specced with the 2.4 ghz CPU, the AMD specced with a 2.0 ghz CPU. So the biggest difference is the intel system has a 512mb ddr2 Geforce 8600m GT, and the AMD has a 256mb ddr3 HD 2600m. Will the difference in gaming performance between the ddr2 and ddr3 cards be so significant that its worth sacrificing the CPU speed for?

No. From what I've heard, the 8600 is a better card anyway, so it won't matter much. Add on top of that, you have a much better CPU in the Intel laptop and the choice is fairly obvious IMO.

I agree, definitely go with the Intel based machine. But I am surprised they don't offer a 8700M with that.
