Really help that much

Right now I have 768ddr pc2100 value ram I have an Asrock K7S8X mobo, which does support pc3200. I was just wondering, unless I schell out enough cash to get atleast 512 of the faster stuff will it really help?

I WILL underestimate your board, and yes you'd want at least 512MB for Windows XP. And it would make a big difference.
